Alison Proctor
Alison's work is inspired by the natural world around her, from the broad horizons of the Kent marshes and coast where she lives, to the flora growing wild or in her garden. She enjoys making work that combines a painterly, sculptural approach with traditional ceramic techniques, whilst pushing the boundaries of what is possible with clay. She creates work using a variety of techniques that best suit the form or subject she's exploring, either thrown on the wheel or hand modelled, functional or purely sculptural.
Alison has recently been making work that documents plants across the seasons. Casting directly from the plants, she has developed the process of traditional sprig making and hand-modelled flowers to create more sculptural work.
