Alison Proctor
Alison is a ceramicist, creating wheel thrown and hand built pieces that reflect her passion for nature, with a strong connection to the place she lives. Her work includes functional, decorative and sculptural pieces, made from earthenware clay, every part of the making process, by hand. In recent years she has begun to explore the tradition of using ‘sprigs’ to decorate her work. This technique has provided her with a way to record and reveal the rich diversity of flora on her doorstep.
In 2021, Alison was awarded a Developing your Own Creative Practice grant from the Arts Council to support her in building a full time studio practice in Kent. In 2023, she was Maker in Residence at Kelmscott Manor, Oxfordshire, the home of William Morris.
