Jemma Wyllie
Specialising in birds and animals, observation is a key factor, and much time is spent watching and sketching before beginning with the making process. Striving to predict character and a sense of movement is important, and a range of different clays and techniques may be used on the same piece. Humour and imagination also play a large part in the creative process.
Jemma has a mixed media approach to ceramics, often combining materials to give interest or structure, with the aim of producing a depiction of movement by the use of metal armatures and wooden or concrete stands.
