Judith Westrup
Judith is a printmaker who relishes the simple physical processes of linocut printing, from deliberately carving into linoleum to gently rolling ink and slowly turning her cast-iron Victorian presses. "I love exploring the rolling chalk downlands and the marshes and coastlines of Kent and Sussex. I am drawn to places where time stands still, tracing the memories of landscapes shaped by humans long ago. By slowly building up layer upon layer of translucent ink, I try to capture that ancient stillness."
