Capturing atmosphere and evoking a unique mood defines the work of Philippa Futrell.
Pushing boundaries between realism and abstraction propels her, allowing pigments to give serendipitous discoveries as well as responding to the poetic narratives in the landscape around her. Using photography from walks as an aid memoir her intention is for a progression from what is felt, recorded and observed to a more personal reality. Recalling through the use of water based media the uneasy balance achieved between nature and the man-made environments of our country, it is the wild corridors across the United Kingdom which entrance her.
