Scarlett Woodman
Scarlett collects both her imagery and materials from her surrounding landscape, mostly that of the Kent countryside just outside her studio. She takes discarded objects, mostly old building materials, which she feels capture a sense of that landscape, then pieces them together to create her artworks. Using her unique process of scratching back into the surface of the material, by contrasting her celebratory images of nature with the deteriorated objects on which they sit, Scarlett reflects upon the strength, beauty and resilience of the natural world, as well as its fragility.
